Research:

Integration of genomic and biological data in the mouse.

Dr. Carol Bult is a geneticist/bioinformatician whose research program focuses on integrating complex genomic and biological data to facilitate the use of the laboratory mouse as a model system for understanding normal biological and disease processes in humans. Her major projects include 1) the integration of large-scale mouse genome sequence data into the Mouse Genome Informatics database; 2) the creation of a laboratory information management system to support large-scale mutagenesis and phenotyping; 3) the design and implementation of community databases to support basic cancer genetics research using mouse models, and 4) the development of open source software to bridge the "informatics gap" between the activities of computational and wet bench biologists through seamless access to diverse data sources, data analysis tools, and data visualization utilities.
